The plan for today is The Dutch Resistance Museum and the Jewish District. I am sitting at the front window and it is pouring; the sky is dark and menacing. The people in the street below are hunkered down against the bad weather. It amazes me, Tammy posted photos, but it is wild to see a woman and her three kids all on the same bike going to school in the rain. The people here all seem so healthy; a woman for perhaps 80 just rode by on her bike with what looked like a grandchild sitting in the seat behind her.
The Museum was small but informative. Sadly, I thought there was more resistance in Holland that this museum indicated. There were several groups that helped the allies and came to the aid of Jewish Dutch, but on the individual level, not so much. It began to rain worse, so I ducked into a bookstore and looked around, the place was packed so my idea was not unique.
Found a giant open air market today. It was 1/3 mile long off the 24 tram. I bought Gouda, bread, olives stuffed with feta and a nectarine for lunch. I sat at the table in front of the window for a quick lunch at about 3:30, and then I took a nap.
